  • The Past-at-Play lab is looking for two student assistants to help and assist the team with their research activities. The Past-at-Play lab is a research lab and public play-space where the project will run open days, research experiments, and focused group discussions around the past in and as play. We are looking for students with an active interest in the past and play and a willingness to co-host public events. The appointment will be for one day a week, and a three-day training programme will be provided at the beginning of the appointment.
  • We are looking for students who:
    • Are fluent in Dutch and advanced proficiency in English;
    • Are available one day per week (0.2 fte), either Thursdays or Fridays;
    • Are able to commit to the full term of the position (1 September till 31 May);
    • Have an active interest in the past and games;

  • What are the roots of fairness and how does it restrain selfishness and sustain cooperation? While equality may be a guiding benchmark to decide on appropriate distributions, in reality, the fairness norm is a social construct, highly influenced by culture, feelings of attachment, values, and bargaining position. With behavioural- and neuro-imaging studies we investigate how different people decide what is fair or not, and how their fairness preferences are affected by power asymmetry and conflict. Relying on functional magnetic resonance (fMRI) techniques, the project aims to uncover the drivers of the person*context interaction and identify the different motivations behind fairness judgments and decisions. By gaining insights into this biological mechanism we contribute to a more solid foundation of social science predictions of how different people develop fairness preferences in different environments.

  • Het wordt steeds duidelijker dat voldoende slaap belangrijk is voor een goede gezondheid. Dat geldt zeker voor jonge kinderen. Verstoorde slaap in kinderen komt vaak voor. Het kan leiden tot gezins-, gezondheids-, en ontwikkelingsproblemen. In dit project wordt een interventie ontwikkeld en geëvalueerd om slaapproblemen in jonge kinderen te voorkómen. De interventie wordt samengesteld samen met o.a. de jeugdgezondheidszorg (JGZ), verloskundigen en kraamverzorgenden, en door deze groepen toegepast. Daarbij is speciale aandacht voor de communicatie met laaggeletterde ouders en ouders met beperkte gezondheidsvaardigheden.
  • In dit project wordt een interventie om slaapproblemen in kleine kinderen te voorkómen en tegen te gaan, ontwikkeld en geëvalueerd. Deze interventie kan per JGZ-regio worden aangepast.  De belangrijkste onderzoeksvragen zijn: (1) Verandert de interventie de werkwijze in de JGZ? (2) Verbetert de interventie de slaap van het kind? (3) Wat zijn de ervaringen van ouders en JGZ-artsen en -verpleegkundigen met de interventie? In het project wordt samengewerkt met onderzoekers van de Universiteit Wageningen.
  • Als vooropleiding voor deze functie is een (Research) Master een vereiste, bijvoorbeeld Gezondheidswetenschappen of Sociale Wetenschappen. Je bent flexibel, nieuwsgierig, vaardig in het schrijven van wetenschappelijke teksten, je hebt een sterk analytisch vermogen, uitstekende organisatorische en contactuele eigenschappen, en werkt graag samen in een team. Idealiter heb je een aantoonbare affiniteit met gezondheidsbevordering of jeugdgezondheidszorg. Verder heb je een goede beheersing van de Nederlandse en Engelse taal, zowel mondeling als schriftelijk.

    The main objective of SHAPE-IT is to facilitate the safe, acceptable (and, ideally, desirable) integration of user-centred and transparent AVs into tomorrow’s mixed urban traffic environments, using both existing and new research methods, designing advanced interfaces and control strategies.
