3 PhD projects on the psychology of open-mindedness

Apply before: January 8th, 2018
Institute: University of Bath
Job specification: We are seeking to recruit 3 PhD students to work on a series of projects looking at the elicitors and consequences of state open-mindedness. The overarching goal of this line of work is to find out (1) What open-mindedness is and (2) How it can be increased. Our research approach assumes that open-mindedness can be understood as a state (and not just as an individual difference trait) and that specific emotions and values could potentially increase open-minded cognition. We are also interested in a range of (positive and negative) consequences of open-mindedness.

Interested and suitable candidates will be encouraged to apply for funding via the University of Bath with the support of the main PhD supervisor (Dr Gosia Goclowska). The University has access to a wide range of funding opportunities and our intention is to match potential PhD candidates with the most suitable sources of funding. This means that we are seeking candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and locations and that we encourage inquiries from ANYONE who is passionate about this research topic and can demonstrate relevant research interests and/or experience.
