Job specification: Ageing is a growing concern in many countries, with projections suggesting that older adults (aged 65+) will comprise 25% of the population by 2025. Although people are living longer, they are not necessarily living well. Ageing is associated with social isolation, which can negatively impact engagement, health, and well-being, and strain health and social services. Current projections highlight the need for cost-effective solutions to help older adults stay independent, active, connected and happy, and to reduce ageing-related demands on services. In collaboration with academics from QMUL and the charity Duckie, the post-holder will engage in cross-sectional and longitudinal research to evaluate Duckie’s Posh Club for older adults. This project will provide important insights into the ways that the arts-based interventions can help older adults to live and age well within their communities.
